In certain instances (gas stations, restaurants, Instacart orders, etc), a single purchase actually results in multiple authorizations on your card. These authorization charges might differ from the actual amount you paid. When the transaction settles (usually anywhere from 1-5 days after the purchase), you’ll only see the settled, final amount in your transaction list. This is also the only transaction that will impact your card balance.
For example, if you use your Ness Card to purchase gas, you might see two transactions initially:
- $100 - Initial authorization
- $65.37 - Actual amount of purchase
A few days later, once the transaction has settled, you will only see the $65.37 charge. You won’t see the initial authorization. And please know that you will only ever be billed for transactions as they appear in your monthly statement, which is the formal record of amounts due to Ness.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about the amount displayed for a particular transaction, please don’t hesitate to reach out to support@nesswell.com. We’re happy to take a look!
